Bagged Eyes

 I want to be self-reliant,

said the starry-eyed youth.

All delusional:

his head past the clouds.

Well, not me,

said the baggy-eyed man.

All melancholic:

barely hanging on.

To be on my own.

No higher authority.

Telling me what to do.

Making sure my,

familial obligations,

are not past due.

Sounds spectacularly sadistic.

Dictate my every move;

my every breath.

Drag me through this thing called life.

Invert the traditional gender roles

and make me a housewife.

Reliance.

A two-person alliance.

Hand me a contract,

and you'll have my full compliance.
