Oh,
rain repellent.
I used to forget you on purpose
during a rainstorm so that
I could feel the drops
slam into my skull
and race down my face:
so that they could experience
a different phenomenon
at least once during their feeble existence.
Now,
you are a trusted compatriot.
My guardian angel against
the destruction of personal effects.
A single droplet is all it takes.
After, it quickly infects.
To hear the slight drizzle,
dance off of you:
umbrella,
serenades my sickened soul.
But if forgotten,
my mind would be left with a bigger hole.
