Drag Me Through This Thing Called Life

 I wish I could get

caught up in complete circumstance.

If every aspect of my life

was charted out for me

I wouldn’t have

to worry about the unknown.

My free will would be stolen,

but at least I wouldn’t have

to pick and choose every move.

Do I do this or that,

the strain on my mind

is never-ending.

I wish I was a drone.

  1. This piece, to me, represents the harsh reality of what it means to make choices. It reminds me of the film Mr. Nobody, there is one particularly quote that states, "Choices... We cannot go back. That’s why it’s hard to choose. You have to make the right choice. As long as you don’t choose, everything remains possible.” I think the similarity in this and your piece is that choices are seen as a burden of sorts; if we didn't have to choose, and everything were already set-up for us, then we wouldn't feel the weight of responsibility that comes with making our own choices. Yet, again, I wonder if we all just want what we don't have, would we wish to be able to make our own choices if we lived in a world where choices were made for us?

    1. You summed up my thoughts for this piece pretty well. And the quote you used is just amazing. If we never have to choose everything is possible, however i think this only applies to your imagination. If we were to truly be dragged along a path that has been laid out for us then only what lies at the end of the path would be possible.

    2. I think that's the beauty of choices, there's no ONE path, and, yet, if fate exists, then I guess it was always one path disguised as many.
